Steeped in history in Kennington since 1780 serving great beer and ales for theatre-goers and locals alike. With its traditional meets modern design, furnished with eclectic art and the original wooden bar. Just a short walk from the Oval Cricket Ground and a 5-minute walk from Kennington Station.
Serving up freshly prepared British pub classics as well as Sunday roast dinners with an array of seasonal trimmings, Yorkies and gravy as well as excellent vegan specials. Perfectly paired with Bloody Mary’s, real ales, craft beers, a wide wine selection and hot beverages.

Our Food & Drinks
Our menus celebrate the season’s freshest ingredients, including Chalk stream trout, West country beef and Hertfordshire game. Each dish is carefully crafted with locally sourced produce, from our famous Venison Wellington to the pistachio chocolate fondant we have something for everyone.
Chef’s Table: The Bees
Thursday 7th August | 7pm | £70pp
This August, we’re hosting a very special edition of our Chef’s Table – a five-course garden-to-plate experience inspired by and featuring the honey harvested from our very own hives.
You’ll take a seat at our communal table for an evening of bold British flavours, seasonal ingredients, and creative cooking – with each course thoughtfully paired with premium wines. It’s a celebration of great British produce, excellent plates, and good conversation.
Spaces are limited – book early to avoid missing out.

This is more than just a pub garden — it’s a wild, blooming haven, home to our beehives and the bees that help bring our menus to life. With dappled sunlight, relaxed seating, and a little slice of nature in the heart of Kennington, it’s the perfect spot for long lunches and lazy suppers.

We are buzzing to introduce you to the White Bears Bees. Honeybees are essential to the UK’s domestic food production. British fruit and vegetables and our meat and dairy industries all depend on bee pollination. This is why we have made the decision to re-activate the hives in our garden. We are passionate about the welfare of bees and are so pleased we can take this step towards sustainably produced honey.
Perfect Sundays
We are talking plates piled high with succulent meats, vibrant vegetables, golden roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings risen to perfection, and an abundance of rich, velvety gravy. For those who can’t resist a bit on the side enjoy creamy cauliflower cheese and delightful pigs in blankets. And to add a spicy twist to your Sunday, don’t miss our perfectly crafted Bloody Marys.

Looking for the perfect venue? From Birthday bashes, informal meetings to casual parties, we are the perfect place for any occasion.
Dine decadently in our private Dining Room, keep it intimate in our stylish snug or pull out all the stops and throw a big birthday bash in our impressive blue bar. For a much needed trip out of the office, our cosy snug doubles up as the perfect space for informal meetings and team training days.
